At just under eight feet and rated for a five weight, it has evolved over the years from bamboo, through the graphite history of Orvis and is still one of the most popular models we sell. This is a great dry-fly rod for precise presentation at medium to close range, yet it has no problem sending a cast well over forty feet if necessary. The slightly shorter length offers enhanced precision in placing the fly in precisely the drift needed, but as a five-weight offers plenty of strength to handle big trout and larger flies if necessary. This is by no means a small-stream rod only, but a precision tool for any trout water where the need for a precise first cast is paramount.
